If you can't answer, "who's on your virtual team?" your missing out on the hottest business trend around.  Savvy, successful entrepreneurs work it out with virtual support.

What is a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent business owner who assists small business owners in an administrative capacity from a remote location such as a home or mobile office.  Their skills range from typical clerical work to sophisticated niches like web development and copywriting.  Virtual Assistants typically stand apart from traditional assistants in four key areas:

  • an advanced knowledge of internet technology

  • refined communicative abilities

  • small business sense through self-ownership

  • an entrepreneurial spirit

OK, so do you define a Virtual Support Team as just a bunch of VAs that you outsource work to?

Um, no--not in our book.  Call us crazy, but we prefer a more practical, diverse approach.  We consider your team to include anyone who regularly supports your business--even those we don't directly sub-contract to.  That's right--we'll make sure your publicist, bookkeeper, web developer--or anyone else you work closely with--is on track!

I thought Virtual Support Teams were for big business.

Large corporations do form teams of employees--but small businesses can reap even more benefits by hiring an independently contracted team.  The right team really cares about your business.  They invest in it and grow with it--and it's always a win-win.  The following list points out the top managerial, operational, and strategic benefits you'll reap by working with a dynamite sub-contracted team.

  • Financial flexibility.  Work around the budget you negotiate.

  • No personnel issues. VAs make their own schedules, and take care of their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.

  • Get what you pay for. Get billed for "real time", not coffee breaks or chatting around the water cooler.

  • Remember why you started all this!  Feel the world lift off your shoulders and remember the excitement that you had when you first started your business.  You will be able to spend your time doing what you love--and do best!

  • No convincing necessary.  Working with a like-minded colleagues who know the importance of running a small business and appreciate your efforts, makes for a satisfying business relationship.

  • More motivated individuals.  If you don't grow, they don't grow.  It's that simple.

  • Goal- or project-oriented. Whether you need a team who will work toward goals or just be there when you need them, you'll be matched with the right individuals to suit your needs.

  • More time. Your team can manage your workload and maximize your schedule. No more burning the midnight oil.

  • Your own space. Like working solo? A lot of people get more done by working alone in their own space. This means less interruptions and best of all... no sharing!

  • No overhead. VAs work out of their homes, which means no equipment, furniture, utility costs, or zoning requirements to worry about.

  • Increased efficiency & productivity. Watch your to-do list shrink. Your team will know your business and be able to handle the routine questions and tasks that you don’t have time for.

  • Increased resources & problem solving.  Multiple heads are better than one.  Bouncing ideas off those dedicated to your business often leads to more efficient and beneficial ways of doing things.  VAs are used to collaborating with colleagues to constantly contribute new solutions and resources that can be streamlined and implemented quickly.  Capitalize on the unique perspective and expertise of your entire team.

  • Reduced risk.  Forget worrying about employee turnover.  You can rest easy investing in those dedicated to growing with you.  Your team will learn all that they can about the day-to-day operations of your business to help it grow.

  • Increased quality & value. By offering your clients continual customer service, your team will be able to provide you with valuable feedback that you may not have time to track on your own. This is great way for you to make sure that your own customers value your products or services.

OK, so what kind of ROI are we talking about?

If you're starting to ask yourself, "why did I start all of this in the first place?" you need to sit back and think about what you're doing wrong.  Chances are you're thinking that outsourcing will cost you--but have you really thought it through?

Say you earn $100 per hour.  You pay your team an average hourly rate of $55 for everything from basic customer service to web development and copywriting services.  Now, say you outsource those burdensome 10 hours of administrative assignments per week that are dragging you down.  You just saved $450.  That's an extra $1,800 per month ... $21,600 a year.  Not bad, considering not only will you save money--but you'll be out making it too!  How much more could you earn if you had the ability to put your essential skills to work for an extra 10 hours every week?

And, that's just scratching the surface.  Highly skilled and resourceful Virtual Assistants complete administrative tasks far more quickly than the typical stressed small business owner--which saves even more time and money.

One final point:  ROIs aren't just monetary.  If you're upgrading from midnight oil to restful Z's you're going to feel better, have peace of mind, and be able to concentrate.  So, now do you remember why you started all of this in the first place?  Aha!  It's coming back to you ...
